God helps us learn

The theme for Lesson 2 is God helps us learn.
Proverbs 2:6 - God helps us learn.

I went through this, picture by picture with Abigail. Asked her one by one whether is she able to do it?
Picture 1 - tie my shoe
(she can wear her shoes but not tie her shoes, I circle it as she is not able to do it yet)
Picture 2 - brush my teeth
(I put a tick as she's able to brush her own teeth without any help)
Picture 3 - wash my hands
(I put a tick as she's able to wash her own hands without any help, even with soap)
Picture 4 - arrange my books
(I give her a tick, she can arrange her books but not in perfect order, well... still deserve a tick)
Picture 5 - make my bed
(she is still learning to fold her blanket, I circle it... area to improve)
Picture 6 - kick a ball
(Oh yes! she can kick a ball! A big tick for this!)

I prepared a map like this

Then draw different shapes on it.
I asked Abigail to name me what shapes she wanted, as she said, I drew it.
After that, I hold her hand, teaching her how to use the scissors.
She's ok with straight line, still need guidance. Not able to do it on her own yet. Need to have more practices on this. After cutting them out, I stick it on a black paper and then get her to stick the right shapes at the right place. From here, she can learn a few things.
1. What is a map. How did a map look like? Where are we staying? Where are other countries?
2. Shapes (the child may knew it already)
3. Cutting/using scissors
4. Matching shapes and sticking.
It's simple and fun. Abigail likes it! :)

Painting time again.

more Angels...

The continuation of last lesson.

Story taken from Luke 2:20
8 And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. 9 An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. 12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”
13 Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,

14 “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”
15 When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”

16 So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. 17 When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, 18 and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. 19 But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. 20 The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.

Objective:
God fulfilled His promise by sending the Messiah, the Saviour to come to this earth and to save mankind from sins.

Memory Verse:
John 3:16
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Craft:
1. Cut paper plate into half
2. Take one half and seal the ends together to form a cone shape.
3. Cut hands and wings out of the other half of the plate and stick on the cone.
4. Draw eyes on the face and glue to the body. Use toothpick at the back to keep the head up.
5. Make a halo as deco.

Angel

We have started the Christmas lessons for the last two weeks.

We started with the story of Angel Gabriel appeared to Mary and told her that God has chosen her and she will be pregnant and to name this baby Jesus. Then Angel Gabriel appeared to Joseph and asked him to take Mary as wife and take care of her and to name the baby, Jesus.

The details of the Bible Story:
Matthew 1:18-25
18 This is how the birth of Jesus the Messiah came about[d]: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit. 19 Because Joseph her husband was faithful to the law, and yet[e] did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly.

20 But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. 21 She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus,[f] because he will save his people from their sins.”
22 All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: 23 “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel”[g] (which means “God with us”).
24 When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife. 25 But he did not consummate their marriage until she gave birth to a son. And he gave him the name Jesus.

Luke 2:1-7
1 In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. 2 (This was the first census that took place while[a] Quirinius was governor of Syria.) 3 And everyone went to their own town to register.

4 So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. 5 He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. 6 While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, 7 and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.

Objective:
God fulfilled His promise by sending the Messiah, the Saviour to come to this earth and to save mankind from sins.

Memory Verse:
John 3:16
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Craft:
1. Get the child to trace his/her handprint on yellow paper and footprint on a foam.
2. After cutting them out, stick the handprint at the back of the footprint (as wings).
3. Draw a face and stick eyes for the angel.
4. Put a gold belt (and deco the belt if you want to) for the angel.
